IEDM Radio Episode 166: Blasterjaxx
Thursday Nov 16, 2017
Thursday Nov 16, 2017
In the space of just a few years, Blasterjaxx has ascended from a relatively unknown production duo to a fixture of the EDM scene in astounding fashion. With an energetic sound packed to the brim with huge riffs, enormous builds, killer drops and infectious melody, they’ve time and time again proved themselves to be amongst the most exciting producers and DJs in the EDM scene. Thom and Idir’s meteoric rise to the top has has brought challenges, but they’ve always stood by each other, and together taken their electronic dance music to new levels. Born and raised in The Hague, Netherlands, Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf draw on their home country’s rich heritage to present a sound that interprets their distinctive toughness in a cutting-edge, contemporary fashion. After DJ Chuckie gave the duo their first break with their Carlos Barbosa collaboration Escucha on his Dirty Dutch Music imprint, the biggest dance labels around were soon vying for their output. From Spinnin’ Records to Ultra Music, they have left few stones unturned. Remixes for the likes of David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, Steve Aoki and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have continued to cement their place at the heart of the global EDM scene, with many millions of plays backing up their prolific body of work. Launching their own label, event and radio show concept Maxximize has been the latest major step in their career. Maxximize Records has given a platform to upcoming talents as well as established acts like DBSTF, Boostedkids, Breathe Carolina, Dannic and Jewelz & Sparkz. It’s quickly grown to become one of Beatport’s Top 10 best-selling Big Room labels — an incredibly impressive feat to achieve in just one year from launch. “Music is our religion” is their motto, and with a loyal and ever-growing global fanbase following their every move, it looks like they’ll to continue to convert everyone who comes into contact with their unique sounds. ------------------ Tracklist: 1. iEDM Radio Episode 164: FuntCase
Thursday Nov 09, 2017
Thursday Nov 09, 2017
A producer and DJ from Bournemouth, UK, FuntCase (AKA James Hazell) is known for his raw and dirty sound, forging the way with his controversial “filthy” style. James first expressed his love of music through jamming with his schoolmates, taking his energetic and aggressive drumming style from death metal. He was also heavily influenced by happy hardcore and jungle, growing up to a background of Helter Skelter and Dreamscape mixtapes. After hearing “Bandwagon Blues” by Twisted Individual, James fell in love with the drum and bass sound and began to focus his talents on producing. Sharing his tracks with D&B radio stations led to the first recognition of his foot-thumping talents, and under the alias DJ Dose he released for the first time in 2007. In 2009 James began to dabble with producing dubstep, and gave his tunes a unique energy by incorporating the drum and bass layering technique into his dubstep sound. His first track “Make Our Day” was quickly signed to 4:20 Records, and the raw sound that is FuntCase had begun. It wasn't long before FuntCase began trading tracks with Doctor P, and an offer soon followed to bring James into the Circus Records camp with the release of his famed track “So Vexed’ in 2010. Since then, FuntCase has become a legend of the DJ world. With an incredibly loyal fan base Funty is known worldwide for working hard, playing hard, traveling hard, and DJing hard on stages globally. ------------------ Tracklist: 1. iEDM Radio Episode 162: Elephante
Tuesday Nov 07, 2017
Tuesday Nov 07, 2017
Driven by an unwavering determination and passion for his craft, in just under two years Tim Wu – best known as Elephante – has amassed a plethora of flawless productions that have earned him rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, Sirius XM, DJ Mag and Billboard as well as respect from the cream of the dance music elite. His musical maturity and innate ability to create genre-defying hits time and time again have seen the dance pop prodigy win the hearts of legions of fans across the world.
Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Tim began his musical career as a classically trained pianist and singer-songwriter, playing in bands in high school and college. A graduate of Harvard University, Wu realized soon after taking his first desk job that the corporate lifestyle was not for him. He spent every waking hour producing music to admittedly keep himself sane. Finally embracing the “elephant in the room” that was his desire to break free from the monotonous nine-to-five routine, Wu set his sights on the dance music sphere and Elephante was born. Quite literally giving up his day job in order to hone his craft, he continues to make his mark as one of the most innovative progressive and electro house producers today.
Elephante’s star is most definitely on the rise.

IEDM Radio Episode 163: Tom Swoon
Thursday Nov 02, 2017
Thursday Nov 02, 2017
Tom Swoon was born in 1993 in the small city of Goleniow, Poland. His interest in music started at a young age, and he started his own rock band with a group of friends when he was just 14. At the age of 17, he discovered EDM and was inspired by artists such as Deadmau5 and Daft Punk. Over the next few years, Tom taught himself the art of DJing and gradually improved his skills through constant practice and mixing at a local club. He eventually saved up his earnings and bought a proper DJ setup, and within six months he had created his first bootlegs and unofficial remixes in his makeshift studio. These tracks quickly received support from respected artists such as Nervo, Gareth Emery and Laidback Luke. Swoon’s bootleg of “Till Sunshine” (David Guetta & Avicii vs. Laidback Luke), which was released under his moniker Pixel Cheese, was an instant success and topped over 15 million views on YouTube. With his fresh-sounding remixes and big room approach, Tom was called in for another set of remixes for Nervo, Sultan & Ned Shepard’s single “Army”, and Benny Benassi’s collaboration with John Legend called “Dance The Pain Away.” This past year has been one of long, intense studio sessions for Swoon, and also included live performances around the globe and A-list remixes for artists like Iggy Azalea and Armin Van Buuren. His new single is set for release on Spinnin’ this month, and there are also mutterings of collaborations with Steve Aoki and Showtek as an extensive touring schedule is falling into place. ------------------ Check out Tom Swoon: http://www.tomswoon.com http://www.facebook.com/TomSwoon http://twitter.com/TomSwoon http://soundcloud.com/tomswoon http://www.instagram.com/tomswoon http://www.youtube.com/user/tomswoon ------------------ Listen to more exclusive mixes: iedm.com/blogs/iedmradio www.youtube.com/c/Iedmradiopodcast www.mixcloud.com/iEDMradio/ iedmradio.podbean.com/?source=pb Need the hottest in EDM apparel?
