iEDM Radio Episode 158: Swanky Tunes

September 29th, 2017

Known worldwide as Swanky Tunes, this legendary Russian DJ trio amplifies both progressive and electro-house sounds.

Hailing from industrial Smolensk, Swanky Tunes made their entry into the DJ Mag Top 100 in 2016 at #27 (Highest Climber) while receiving all existing dance awards in their homeland. From their early releases to their current singles, like “Fix Me” and “Skin & Bones” (feat. Christian Burns), “Far From Home” (with Going Deeper), and Beatport chart-topper “Out of Gravity” (with Yves Y), Swanky Tunes show no signs of slowing down.

Whether it is in the studio, on stage, or on the global music charts, the Showland Records owners are at the forefront of electronic dance music. With their uplifting anthemic sound, these music pioneers deliver dance-floor bangers to nightclubs and festivals around the globe.

Swanky Tunes has performed on worldwide stages like Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld, Electric Zoo, Sensation, Ultra Music Festival, Global Gathering, Electric Daisy Carnival, Alfa Future People, and many others. As special guests, Swanky Tunes has also performed at Tiësto’s Club Life at Pacha Ibiza, Swedish House Mafia’s One Last Tour, and Avicii’s Le7els tour. They’ve also held down a residency at XS Las Vegas.

Swanky Tunes are one of the most sought after remix teams in the world. Recent success include Zedd’s “Clarity”, Dada Life’s “Happy Violence”, and together with R3hab they transformed Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso’s “Calling”. Swanky Tunes intensified their sound with the Beatport Top 10 releases of “Scratch” and “We Know” (a collaboration with DVBBS and Eitro). In addition, Swanky Tunes’s track ‘Here We Go’ was featured in the movie and soundtrack for The Fast & The Furious 6. Swanky Tunes have released music on Spinnin’, Axtone, Size, Doorn, Revealed, Musical Freedom, Dim Mak, Ultra Music, Wall Recordings and Armada Music.

September 22nd, 2017

Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading creators of techno music, and remains bold and innovative as both a DJ and producer. With his impressive output in recent years, it’s hard to imagine a list of prolific producers without his name near the top. He’s been at the top of his game for over a decade with his trademark groovy-techno sound.

Christian has dominated the charts and DJ playlists with a steady flow of releases on high profile labels like Plus8/Minus, Drumcode, Cocoon, Bedrock, Mobilee and Tronic. His latest EP “Force Majeure”, released in July 2016 on Drumcode, went straight to #3 on Beatport’s Techno Top 10 and stayed on the list for over a month.

Although born in Stockholm, Christian spent most of his childhood years in Frankfurt, Germany, which no doubt played an unexpected role in determining his musical tastes. After spending time in the US studying, Christian moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil and played at the best clubs in the city and surrounding regions. He still loves to play there today, and continues to have a very large following in the city.

In 1997 he started his own label, Tronic, and since then it has dominated the charts with releases from Christian himself and the likes of Chus & Ceballos, ANNA, Paco Osuna, Loco & Jam, Kaiserdisco, Enrico Sangiuliano, Nick Curly and more. The label is now the #2 top selling techno label in the world, according to Beatport, and recently it celebrated its 200th release. Tronic also has a weekly show which is now syndicated to over 100 stations worldwide, and their 200th show was celebrated with special guest Adam Beyer.

Tronic is bringing artists to venues and festivals across the world—with dates throughout Europe, including ADE and Ultra Resistance in Ibiza.
