iEDM Radio Episode 162: Elephante
Tuesday Nov 07, 2017
Tuesday Nov 07, 2017
Driven by an unwavering determination and passion for his craft, in just under two years Tim Wu – best known as Elephante – has amassed a plethora of flawless productions that have earned him rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, Sirius XM, DJ Mag and Billboard as well as respect from the cream of the dance music elite. His musical maturity and innate ability to create genre-defying hits time and time again have seen the dance pop prodigy win the hearts of legions of fans across the world.
Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Tim began his musical career as a classically trained pianist and singer-songwriter, playing in bands in high school and college. A graduate of Harvard University, Wu realized soon after taking his first desk job that the corporate lifestyle was not for him. He spent every waking hour producing music to admittedly keep himself sane. Finally embracing the “elephant in the room” that was his desire to break free from the monotonous nine-to-five routine, Wu set his sights on the dance music sphere and Elephante was born. Quite literally giving up his day job in order to hone his craft, he continues to make his mark as one of the most innovative progressive and electro house producers today.
Elephante’s star is most definitely on the rise.

IEDM Radio Episode 163: Tom Swoon
Thursday Nov 02, 2017
Thursday Nov 02, 2017
Tom Swoon was born in 1993 in the small city of Goleniow, Poland. His interest in music started at a young age, and he started his own rock band with a group of friends when he was just 14. At the age of 17, he discovered EDM and was inspired by artists such as Deadmau5 and Daft Punk. Over the next few years, Tom taught himself the art of DJing and gradually improved his skills through constant practice and mixing at a local club. He eventually saved up his earnings and bought a proper DJ setup, and within six months he had created his first bootlegs and unofficial remixes in his makeshift studio. These tracks quickly received support from respected artists such as Nervo, Gareth Emery and Laidback Luke. Swoon’s bootleg of “Till Sunshine” (David Guetta & Avicii vs. Laidback Luke), which was released under his moniker Pixel Cheese, was an instant success and topped over 15 million views on YouTube. With his fresh-sounding remixes and big room approach, Tom was called in for another set of remixes for Nervo, Sultan & Ned Shepard’s single “Army”, and Benny Benassi’s collaboration with John Legend called “Dance The Pain Away.” This past year has been one of long, intense studio sessions for Swoon, and also included live performances around the globe and A-list remixes for artists like Iggy Azalea and Armin Van Buuren. His new single is set for release on Spinnin’ this month, and there are also mutterings of collaborations with Steve Aoki and Showtek as an extensive touring schedule is falling into place. ------------------ Check out Tom Swoon: http://www.tomswoon.com http://www.facebook.com/TomSwoon http://twitter.com/TomSwoon http://soundcloud.com/tomswoon http://www.instagram.com/tomswoon http://www.youtube.com/user/tomswoon ------------------ Listen to more exclusive mixes: iedm.com/blogs/iedmradio www.youtube.com/c/Iedmradiopodcast www.mixcloud.com/iEDMradio/ iedmradio.podbean.com/?source=pb Need the hottest in EDM apparel? DJ Marlon Flohr and producer Ralph van Hilst, who together form Bassjackers, are perfectly in sync as a duo. IEDM Radio Episode 160: Funkerman
Thursday Oct 12, 2017
Thursday Oct 12, 2017
Ardie van Beek, known to the music community as Funkerman, is an internationally recognized DJ, wildly successful producer, and the founder of Can You Feel It Records and Flamingo Recordings. From his first love of American hip-hop, through obsessive searches for classic soul, disco and funk albums, to riding on the first waves of American house, he has always been on a quest to find and create new and exciting music. In 2004, he founded Flamingo Recordings with fellow producers Raf Jansen and Fedde Le Grand. The label released some of the biggest house tracks of the Noughties, including Ida Corr’s “Let Me Think About It”, Fedde Le Grand’s “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit”, and the Fedde/Funkerman collaboration “3 Minutes To Explain”. Founding one highly influential record label would have been enough for most producers, but it became increasingly clear that Funkerman needed to launch a new label for, as he describes it, the “New House Sound”. In the spring of 2011, Can You Feel It Records was born. Since its inception, the label has picked up both new and existing producers and vocalists. Gramophonedzie, Rene Amesz, Beauriche and DJ Licious are just a few of the many talented members of the Can You Feel It family. The label grew so quickly that in 2013, Funkerman decided to start organizing CYFI events together with his friends. An unstoppable touring DJ, Funkerman has been traveling and performing almost all the time over the past few years. He has played packed-out shows at many impressive locations across the globe, including in America, Canada, Australia, Britain, Ibiza, Russia, Korea, Kazakhstan, Iceland, Scandinavia, and other European music hotspots. ------------------ Tracklist: 1. Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading creators of techno music, and remains bold and innovative as both a DJ and producer. With his impressive output in recent years, it’s hard to imagine a list of prolific producers without his name near the top. He’s been at the top of his game for over a decade with his trademark groovy-techno sound. Christian has dominated the charts and DJ playlists with a steady flow of releases on high profile labels like Plus8/Minus, Drumcode, Cocoon, Bedrock, Mobilee and Tronic. His latest EP “Force Majeure”, released in July 2016 on Drumcode, went straight to #3 on Beatport’s Techno Top 10 and stayed on the list for over a month. Although born in Stockholm, Christian spent most of his childhood years in Frankfurt, Germany, which no doubt played an unexpected role in determining his musical tastes. After spending time in the US studying, Christian moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil and played at the best clubs in the city and surrounding regions. He still loves to play there today, and continues to have a very large following in the city. In 1997 he started his own label, Tronic, and since then it has dominated the charts with releases from Christian himself and the likes of Chus & Ceballos, ANNA, Paco Osuna, Loco & Jam, Kaiserdisco, Enrico Sangiuliano, Nick Curly and more. The label is now the #2 top selling techno label in the world, according to Beatport, and recently it celebrated its 200th release. Tronic also has a weekly show which is now syndicated to over 100 stations worldwide, and their 200th show was celebrated with special guest Adam Beyer. Tronic is bringing artists to venues and festivals across the world—with dates throughout Europe, including ADE and Ultra Resistance in Ibiza. “No music – no life.” The love of music has always been the driving force behind everything Gamper & Dadoni do. One a student of music and the other of audio engineering, these two artists from Hamburg, Germany started as a production team in the spring of 2013 and soon generated over 100 million plays on Soundcloud, Spotify and YouTube. Their sound is a thrilling mixture of melodic and funky house, and has rapidly gained the support of world-renowned DJs such as Kygo, Lost Frequencies, Klingande and Bakermat - all of whom regularly play their tracks. In the past three years, Gamper & Dadoni have played over 100 shows in more than 15 countries, and whether it's Paris, London, Dublin or Rio, the duo always leave their mark. Asked about artists that inspire the group, their answers range from Jamiroquai to Mark Ronson, from Bob Dylan to Coldplay, from Van Morrison to Tracy Chapman. “Basically we are doing pop music, but we love to break the rules sometimes and discover new horizons.” So prepare yourself for a musical journey that will captivate your senses and let you lose yourself to dance! ------------------ Tracklist: 1.
