iEDM Radio Episode 335: XIE
Sunday Jun 25, 2023
Sunday Jun 25, 2023
Los Angeles based Chinese-American Producer, DJ, and Singer-Songwriter XIE (pronounced “Shay”) is a rising force in the house music scene. Capturing hearts with her moody, melodic soundscapes and edgy lyricism, XIE’s unique personality and inherent artistry coming from a family of fine artists runs deep through every aspect of her project. From designing her artwork and lyric videos to writing, producing, and performing her songs, XIE’s multi-hyphenate creativity knows no bounds.
Raised with a penchant for artistic expression, XIE was trained as a classical pianist and violist since the age of 5 and performed with the esteemed Premier Youth Symphony. As she grew up, she navigated the depths of her genetically-ingrained passions, studying Fine Art and honing her musical talents. Drawing inspiration from artists like ZHU, Grimes, Wax Motif, and Chris Lake, XIE taught herself to produce as a way to further extend the skills in her toolbox.
No stranger to the dance music scene, XIE has spent years refining her craft as a producer in the electronic music realm. After releasing a string of singles with Casablanca/Republic Records, and performing at revered festivals such as Coachella’s DoLab, HARD Summer, and EDC Las Vegas, the 2020 pandemic saw XIE turning to focus on the evolution of her sound.
Now, embodying the soulful spirit of house music, XIE has delivered an alluring blend of house, techno, and pop with her recent single “Birds In Paradise”, out via Thrive Music. Additionally, XIE's latest track “C'est La Vie”, also dropped on Thrive Music, is an ethereal sonic adventure fueled by chilling vocals, effects, and a mesmerizing bassline. Showcasing her high-level mixing abilities, XIE has seamlessly woven these dance anthems into this iEDM Radio exclusive mix!

iEDM Radio Episode 331: DeusExMaschine
Wednesday May 31, 2023
Wednesday May 31, 2023
“Take the soul from disco, combine it with the energy of tech house and blend it up with DeusExMaschine’s signature ‘French Touch’. The resulting concoction is a recipe for dance-floor destruction.”
DeusExMaschine is a French house music producer who has been making waves in the electronic dance music scene with his catchy, upbeat tracks. Born in Lyon in 1975, he grew up in a musical household, with both of his parents being early fans of electronic music. He was introduced to the world of DJing and production at a young age and quickly became fascinated by the creative possibilities of electronic music.
In his early twenties, he produced several disco house tracks in the style of Daft Punk or Cassius with an array of samplers, drum machines and synthesizers, as part of the French touch movement of the 1990s.
After a break, he became famous under the stage name DeusExMaschine with the release of his infectious single "Only You" in 2022. It became a hit on the French club circuit and quickly reached 1 million plays on Spotify.
Inspired by the sounds of artists like Bleu Clair, Matroda and NUZB, DeusExMaschine is pioneering his own subgenre, one he refers to as ‘Disco Tech’. This signature sound is defined by his ability to seamlessly blend disco and tech house, while placing his funky, “French Touch” across each of his productions.

iEDM Radio Episode 40: Move Your Body
Sunday Feb 15, 2015
Sunday Feb 15, 2015
Brennen Bryarly, performing under the ominous moniker of option4, is more house than tech and more deep than disco. Though he calls Denver his home, option4's music is deeply rooted in his Windy City past and the sounds of the vibrant underground house scene that places Chicago on everyone's radar. Though he only started focusing on original music in 2013, option4 has quickly gained a reputation for creating sonically textured house music that extends far beyond the fleeting trends of the electronic dance world.
While most producers transition into songwriting from DJing or rely heavily on samples to string together a beat, option4 dives head first into creating his own music from scratch. In his first year in the studio, option4 released two singles, ‘Do Work’ - a hard-hitting tech house track with a deep and rhythmic bassline matched with equally impressive synths, and ‘All The Girls’, which cleverly splices vocals from N.E.R.D.'s ‘Everyone Nose’ while adding a pulsating bass groove and old school house synths creating a dance floor-ready atmosphere.
A year on, option4 has accelerated on to playing live shows across the Midwest, Canada and Los Angeles on headline bills and supports for huge acts such as STS9, Moon Boots, Mighty Mouse and Lane 8. Amid turning out eclectic remixes for Elizabeth Rose, Great Good Fine Ok and Indian Summer amongst more, option4 consistently released exceptional original singles like ‘Love like No Other’ and ‘Deep Diamonds’ to collectively garner over 1.1 million streams on Soundcloud in 2014. A master on the decks, option4 also traded mixes for high-profile
taste makers in fashion and music including Thump, Discobelle, Perrier and international outfitters Frank & Oak.
With more original material on the way and support from the likes of Justin Jay, Bit Funk and more, 2015 will see option4 turn his focus on original tunes with short breaks out of the studio for live shows throughout the U.S and beyond to add to his already impressive list of club and festival line-ups. Take notice -- option4 is well on his way to soaring far beyond the Mile High City.

to join forces in 2013, you can hear the inspiration of various musical
styles in their productions: heavy basslines, uplifting melodies and
carefully chosen vocals - from deep house to techno spectrum. The past 12 months have been pretty hectic for the Zurich based guys,
but being supported by the current keyplayers of the Deep House scene
such as Oliver Koletzki, Coyu, Reboot, Jay Lumen, Wankelmut as well as
Robert Owens to name a few, the hard working guys will sure be ones to
