iEDM Radio Episode 80: MountBlaq
Sunday Dec 27, 2015
Sunday Dec 27, 2015
MountBlaq has awakened. The music they formulate is made for mass crowds and real fanatics of the electronic music scene. Seeing videos of their jungle type tracks being played at festivals and big venues, shows that MountBlaq’s unique-powerful sounds feed the crowd an adrenaline rush to keep moving. A mixture of Big Room style, Jungle Room style, and Hardstyle, with a rapid progressive melody, unfolds a different experience from every song they produce. With the support of international grand DJ’s and record labels, MountBlaq is focused on what needs to be done.
MountBlaq is made up of two brothers raised in Naples, Florida, a town where the old go to retire and the young cause chaos. Producer Esteban David M., 23, spends his mornings working and his afternoons producing, making this his daily routine. As for DJ Luis Sebastian M., 21, he spends his free time mixing Big Room to Deep House, while putting heads together with his producer, creating their future.
The duo born in Quito, Ecuador, moved to the States at an early age for a better living. Browsing the Internet, they stumbled upon Eric Prydz and The Chemical Brothers. They heard and saw how dance music had evolved in this decade, giving them a good ear and their distinct sound. To this day they have dedicated their passion to music and will continue take the opportunity to embrace the gift they were given: the gift to allow people to lose themselves into a sound not gentle, but absurdly loud that will wake up the dead.

iEDM Radio Episode 76: Tom Swoon
Sunday Nov 15, 2015
Sunday Nov 15, 2015
Tom Swoon, was born June 6th 1993 in the small city of Goleniow in Poland. His interest in music started at a very young age; Tom was fascinated by rock music and started his very own rock band together with a group of friends when he was just 14. Jamming on the guitar was a daily escape and only fuelled his passion further. At the age of 17, he discovered electronic dance music and was inspired by artists such as Deadmau5 and Daft Punk.
Over the next few years, Tom taught himself the art of DJing, gradually improving through constant practice and flexing his mixing skills at a local club between school and at weekends. Once he had perfected these DJ skills, he saved up his earnings and bought a proper DJ setup, transforming himself from a bedroom DJ into an artist with an unrivaled drive for music production.
Within 6 months Tom had created his first bootlegs and unofficial remixes in his makeshift studio. These quickly received solid support from respected artists such as Nervo, Gareth Emery and Laidback Luke. His bootleg of David Guetta & Avicii vs. Laidback Luke – Till Sunshine, which was released under his moniker Pixel Cheese, topped over 15 million views on YouTube and instantly became one of the most successful bootlegs ever produced to date.
Having successfully become the remixer of choice with his new fresh-sounding remixes and his big room approach, Tom was called in for another set of remixes for Nervo, Sultan & Ned Shepard’s single “Army” and Benny Benassi’s collaboration with John Legend called “Dance The Pain Away”. In between such duties Tom’s fourth single “Wings”, was released in July and received massive support from a variety of dance music icons with the remix by Myon & Shane 54 topping the Beatport trance chart at the number 1 position for several weeks.
2015 is set to be another stratospheric year for Tom Swoon with more shows, more releases and even more big name collaborations. His achievements of the past few years show that this is an artist that is definitely worth watching.

iEDM Radio Episode 75: Doctor P
Sunday Nov 08, 2015
Sunday Nov 08, 2015
Any true fan of electronic music should instantly recognize Doctor P as one of the original godfathers of modern bass-driven music. A true music lover at heart, Doctor P, aka Shaun Brockhurst, has had an intense love of music since he was just a teenager jamming with his friends on drums and guitar.
Doctor P is what you might label as a triple threat since his talent can be found in the roles he effortlessly balances as a musician, producer, and DJ. He also founded Circus Records with long time friend Flux Pavilion.
Shaun began to professionally create tracks in 2007, predominantly Drum and Bass but always experimented across all styles. He had some early releases signed up but things didn¹t get serious until he formed Slum Dogz with DJ Swan E and signed to Maximum Boost Management.
Immersed in experimenting with new sounds Shaun fell for the then emerging sub-genre of more energetic bass-driven dubstep, with tracks like Rusko's ‘Cockney Thug’. He was inspired to try his hand at making a few dubstep tunes in the same vein, and created the joyous and body-popping ‘Gargoyle’, shortly followed by the blindsiding ‘Badman Sound’ (Dub Police) which were quickly picked up by Rusko and other DJs. To reflect his new sound, Shaun became Doctor P.
When he posted his new track ‘Sweet Shop’ on his MySpace to test for interest, little was Doctor P to know that this was to change the course of bass music history and inspire a whole new generation of electronic fans. ‘Sweet Shop’ quickly became a staple part of just about every DJ's set, from junglist to house, it became an anthem for every floor. The track was one of the first releases on Circus and helped make it one of the forging labels of EDM.
Since that first release, Doctor P has continued to grow with releases including ‘Superbad’ with label protégé Flux Pavilion, ‘Music is Dead’ with Dillion Francis, 2013 smash ‘The Pit’ with Adam F featuring hip hop royalty Method Man and Mixmag free download ‘Shishkabob’ plus 2014 summer smash ‘Going Gorillas’ which was given a triple bass VIP remix earlier this year. Collaborating with P Money and having remixed for Plan B, Example, Datsik, Dan le Sac vs Scrubius Pip and Blame amongst others, Doctor P is making a name for himself as a go-to remixer.
Shaun continues to develop Circus Records and his own career in a recorded and live sense having played globally recognized stages at Ultra Music Week, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrow World, Pukkelpop, the main dance stage at Daur Festival plus MysteryLand and legendary Global Dance Fest at Red Rocks in Colorado.
